Take Advantage of Spring Weather to Ramp Up Your Weight Loss Efforts

It’s been a long, cold winter here in Syracuse. After months of freezing cold weather, we’re finally getting some beautiful spring days. They are just the thing for re-energizing your weight loss efforts. Now that the weather is warming up, it is not hard to work in the everyday physical activity that you need to get healthy and lose weight. Add some of the activities below to get out and moving, and improve your health and well-being:

  • Spruce up the yard. The daily weeding, pruning, and digging provide a cardio workout, as well as strength and flexibility training.
  • Take a walk each evening. Chat with the neighbors, and enjoy the sunset and the fresh air as you build up your cardiovascular health.
  • Plant a garden. You are more likely to incorporate healthy fruits and vegetables into your diet when you grow them yourself. If you plant different foods throughout the season, you can enjoy tomatoes, peas, zucchini and more all season long.
  • Make regular visits to the farmers’ market. Not only is the socializing good for you, you get a good walk. Enjoy the beautiful fresh vegetables that are available this time of year.
