Activities to Keep Kids HealthyPosted: Jul 09 in Bounce by Wendy Scinta
Obesity in children is a harsh reality in today’s society. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that over nine million children are currently obese. While, physiologically speaking, children may have an easier time losing weight than adults, the truth is that habits like over eating and living a sedentary lifestyle are difficult to unlearn. The nine million children who are currently obese will still have a hard time psychologically coming to terms with the lifestyle changes they must make in order to lose weight.
There are many activities you can do with your kids that will help keep them healthy and not break your bank. For young children, public playgrounds offer free exercise with fun slides, swings and lots of room to run. If there are any with baseball diamonds for little league games in your neighborhood, those also make great places to play with your kids.
For older children, if you live near a kid friendly science center or museum you may not think of it as a location for exercise, but a day spent walking around any museum or science center and playing with different displays can help your kids burn calories and learn new things. If you organize a group, not only is there the possibility of qualifying for reduced rates, but children tend to run around more when with other children.
