One of the biggest reasons for winter weight gain is that we tend to exercise less when it's cold outside. But you don't need to let winter weather keep you from reaching your weight loss and fitness goals. In fact, exercising during the winter months doesn't only work for weight loss, it can help you boost your immune system and fight the winter blues.
Here are a few tips to keep you moving during the winter:
Of course, if the windchill or temperature makes it dangerous to be outside, you can always keep up with your fitness routine by finding indoor activities to do at home or a local gym. The most important thing is to keep moving, whether that means breaking out a workout video or throwing on a few extra layers of clothing.
Starting by running into the wind is an awesome tip! I think that it makes the whole exercise piece easier because your getting the hardest part done first. By the time you turn around and start heading home the wind will be at you back and your body will be all warmed up. All of the sudden the cold weather is not so cold and your done with your workout!

Many people in our town decrease the exercise in the winter and blame it on the weather. Well, we can't make it warmer or sunnier here this time of year, but we can change the way we feel about the weather. Exercise is a natural seratonin booster, which affects your mood, sleep, energy, appetite, sense of well being. It is amazing. Although we all feel lazier in the winter time, exercise will increase your energy and make you ready to tackle the day. You will be happier, healthier and more productive. You will not regret your decision to get into a winter routine.
