Step Away From the Cookie Jar Mom and Dad
Posted: May 09 in Blog by StaffHow did that chicken nugget taste? You know– the one that you picked up off of your child’s plate before tossing it into the dishwasher. What about the left-over French fries at lunch or the melting ice cream cone that was handed off to you at the park? Medical weight loss in Syracuse and Fayetteville can help the whole family develop healthier eating habits, but being honest with yourself is one of the first steps that you will need to take—and that includes counting the calories that are hidden in those extra bites. Posted: Apr 12 in Blog by StaffA simple miscalculation could be the difference in classifying a truly obese person as overweight. This is not to be taken lightly when being obese significantly increases your chances of developing life-threatening cholesterol, blood pressure and heart issues. Researchers suggest about 39 percent of Americans who are currently classed as slightly overweight are, in fact, obese. [Read more]

Posted: Feb 16 in Patient Results by StaffI came to Dr. Scinta’s informational meeting in July 2010. I was at my heaviest and had tried every diet out there in one shape or another. I really did believe that fat is what was meant for me. I learned of Dr. Scinta from my father who was speaking to one of Doc’s successes. He gave me a call and said I should really give this a try. I am so glad and thankful for that call. I have learned more about myself in the past year and a half than one needs to know. [Read more]

Posted: Dec 28 in Blog by StaffHere we are again with another new year fast approaching. The most popular New Year’s resolution is losing weight, but the problem is that most people don’t have a weight loss plan. Using a weight loss plan in New York can make the difference between failure and success. If you go on a diet January 1st, you are setting yourself up to fail, but if you change your attitude and lifestyle January 1st, you’re well on your way to success. [Read more]

Posted: Nov 18 in Patient Results by StaffWelcome to my wonderful world of weight loss. My battle began decades ago when I was a scrawny seven year old and had a tonsillectomy. Right afterwards the weight started piling on, year after year. Matters weren’t helped any by having a sedentary job (at a commercial bakery, no less) and spending a fortune at fast food restaurants (their stock price probably went up every time I stopped by for a meal). Posted: Sep 12 in Patient Results by StaffMy name is Cynthia, I’m a 53 year old mother of one and wife of 23 years. I’m a short 5’1”, and until a year ago, very overweight. When I began dieting, I weighed 224 lbs. I wore 2x clothing and a size 7 shoe. I began going to Dr. Scinta’s Weight Loss Clinic in June 2010. I just had my final doctor’s appointment on July 26, 2011. I had gone to Dr. Scinta’s office in Manlius every Tuesday night for more than half a year. Most of Dr. Scinta’s patients stay in her full program 14 weeks. I didn’t know how I’d stay on that diet for 14 weeks, the end of September. [Read more]

Posted: Aug 11 in Patient Results by StaffMy name is Dawn and I started my program at the end of August, 2010. I had battled weight issues all my life: lost it, regained it…constantly on a see-saw of ups and downs, both physical and emotional. I even had my stomach stapled in 1986, losing 85 pounds but not changing my normal eating style of grazing on small amounts of unhealthy, high fat/high carb foods all day. It was a perfect method of “bypassing” the surgery which is intended to stop a person from eating a large amount of food at one time, and it certainly worked, because the weight went back on over the years. I’ve had many attempts at weight loss since then, sometimes losing 30 or 40 lbs, but always gaining it back because I made no changes in my lifestyle. [Read more]

Posted: May 10 in Patient Results by StaffOver the last 10 years or so I have gained a lot of weight. It wasn’t till the last year that it really started bothering me. Two cholesterol tests were done over a six month time period which revealed my cholesterol levels had substantially increased. As a result, I ended up on cholesterol medication. Other concerns included being embarrassed about going out and not wanting to go out into public, ashamed of my appearance, coming to terms with the fact that I am not fit, the lack of cloths in stores that would fit me and look good on me, and not wanting to have my picture taking due to my “horrible” appearance. Posted: Apr 11 in Patient Results by StaffI was never so honored when I was asked to write about my weight loss experience, clearly this should be the easy part. Until now I sit here and try to put it on paper. You see unlike a lot of people being overweight wasn’t a challenge I had my whole life (just most of my adult life). Five years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I went into the chemotherapy and then radiation literally fighting for my life. So you’d think losing weight would be “a piece of cake” compared to that. Already over weight when diagnosed and radiation destroying my thyroid my weight continued to go up. [Read more]
