Dr. Wendy Scinta; The Most Qualified Weight Loss Doctor in Fayetteville and DeWitt
Dr. Scinta is a national speaker on childhood obesity, most recently speaking at the American Society of Bariatric Physician’s annual conference, the Greater Houston AHEC United Against Childhood Obesity conference, and the World Congress on Childhood Obesity. She is a past member of the White House Task Force on Childhood Obesity working on initiatives to help empower families by improving readability and content of nutrition labels, school lunches, access to healthy and affordable foods, and increasing physical activity in children.
Dr. Scinta has been interviewed on CNN, and appears regularly on the NBC and ABC television affiliates in CNY. She has contributed articles to national magazines such as Woman’s Day, Parenting, and MD News. She sits on several boards, including the board of trustees for American Society of Bariatric Physicians, The Scientific Advisory Board for DepoMed, The Physician Advisory Board for Welch Allyn, and Board of Trustees for Sister of St. Francis. She consults for several local companies, caring for many high profile physicians and executives.
Dr. Scinta has long been recognized as a passionate and energetic teacher. She received her first teaching award in residency from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate where she is conducting research on medically monitored weight loss programs for children. Initial research on her BOUNCE childhood obesity program will be presented this fall at The Obesity Society international conference. She continues to train medical students, PA students and Family Medicine residents interested in Bariatric Medicine, hoping to increase the supply of obesity specialists to meet our increasing national demand.
Dr. Scinta is passionate about fighting the obesity epidemic globally and locally, and donates additional time to her community to help raise awareness of this concerning epidemic.
