Wendy Scinta, M.D., founder and director of Medical Weight Loss of New York, is a board-certified Family Physician who has been practicing Bariatric Medicine, the science of obesity, since 2002. Dr. Wendy Scinta first became interested in weight management during her residency training at Duke University. As a former electrical and computer engineer, she was attracted to the technology used to help people achieve optimal weight loss.
Since that time Dr. Wendy Scinta has been passionate about fighting the obesity epidemic in both adults and children. Dr. Scinta has received extensive training in medical weight management from the American Board of Bariatric Physicians, and in the Spring of 2007 she became the first and only Board-Certified Bariatrics physician in Central New York.
Dr. Scinta serves on the National Board of Trustees for the American Society of Bariatric Physicians and is a national speaker on Pediatric Obesity treatment.
Dr. Scinta is a former Medical Director of the Medical Bariatrics Program at Auburn Memorial Hospital. She consults for numerous area businesses, serves on several boards, and maintains a private practice in Manlius, New York.
